Oh, patents! B . Zero1 redesigned by Zaha Hadid

Copyright @ Françoise Herrmann

At the turn of the 21st century, the famous Italian jeweler Bulgari launched a new line of jewelry called B. Zero1. The design was inspired by the architecture of the Great Coliseum in Rome, in combination with the modern bold lines of Bulgari design.

The US design patent USD630964 was awarded for the B. Zero1 design. The patent figure drawings are included with an image of one of the marketed embodiments.

The B.Zero1 design was then re-interpreted by Zaha Hadid, who changed the face of architecture with her space bending curves. The video below illustrates how Zaha Hadid changed the B. Zero1 design.

NB. The name «  Bulgari »  trademarked BVLGARI using the Latin alphabet, means »  Bulgarians » in Italian, even though the founder Sotir Boulgaris was Greek !
