The IKEA Skymningen pendant light is a patented design. The US design patent, USD841841S1, titled Lamp, was awarded on February 26, 2019, to Carl Öjerstam, the Swedish industrial designer of the Skymningen pendant.
Below, the patent Figure 1 showing a top front view of the lamp, appears together with an image of the marketed product. Notice the dotted lines on the drawing. The broken lines indicate that this part of the design is excluded from the claimed patent protection. In other words, the pendant light suspension cord, shown with broken lines on the drawing, is not part of the patented design.
